Science Picnic of Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre is Europe's largest outdoor event popularizing science. It takes place annually since 1997 in Warsaw, each time drawing crowds of visitors. In 2005 the pinic was honored by the European Commission as one of the 10th Master of European projects in the 'Science and Society'. It was an inspiration to many initiatives to popularize science, such as the uprising of Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. Every year there are about 250 institutions involved in the picnic, from countries such as: Poland, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Lithuania, Morocco, Portugal , Federal Republic of Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Sweden, Hungary, Great Britain, Italy. Scientific institutions, universities, research institutes, museums and cultural institutions, foundations related to science and scientific circles present their achievements and revealing scenes of their daily work. They show science in a manner understandable to audiences of all ages, using experiments, demonstrations and interactive exhibits.
