Description
Step into the cozy, festive atmosphere of our traditional Polish home kitchen and discover one of Poland’s most beloved Christmas traditions - baking and decorating pierniki, our famous spiced gingerbread cookies.
This heartwarming workshop is perfect for anyone who loves the magic of the holidays. You’ll feel the spirit of Polish Christmas - with candlelight, seasonal scents, and traditional music in the background - as you bake, taste, and learn about local customs.
Your experience begins with a warm welcome and a short introduction to Polish Christmas traditions: sharing opłatek, decorating the Christmas tree, and preparing twelve special dishes for Christmas Eve (Wigilia).
Next, it’s time to roll up your sleeves! You’ll mix your own gingerbread dough, roll it out, and cut out your favourite shapes - stars, hearts, Christmas trees, or reindeer. While the cookies bake, enjoy the smell of warm spices filling the kitchen and sip on a homemade winter drink.
Once baked, you’ll decorate your cookies with colourful icing, chocolate, and edible decorations. Each guest will take home their beautifully wrapped handmade cookies - a perfect souvenir or heartfelt Christmas gift from Poland.
After the creative part, we’ll sit down together for a cozy tasting of authentic Polish festive delicacies - red beet soup with dumplings (barszcz z uszkami), cheeses and sausages from the countryside, herring, and pickled vegetables.
The workshop takes place in our home in a green, historic post-war neighborhood of Warsaw, easily reachable by public transport. Everything - from ingredients to decorations - is provided. Just bring your curiosity, a bit of holiday cheer, and an appetite!
