Description
The workshop begins with a welcome and an introduction to Poland’s curious traditions, including Easter breakfast rituals and springtime customs involving water. You will learn how food, humor, and hospitality are central to Polish culture.
Next, you will prepare Żurek, the traditional sour rye soup, from scratch using a fermented rye starter, smoked sausage, and aromatic herbs. The host will guide you step-by-step, revealing family secrets and explaining how fermentation creates the soup’s distinctive tangy flavor.
After cooking, enjoy a homemade feast featuring your Żurek alongside traditional Polish foods such as sausages, cheeses, butter, pickled vegetables, and fresh bread, all locally sourced or homemade.
The workshop is held in a private flat in Warsaw’s green, post-war Wola district, about 25 minutes from the city center by public transport. Detailed directions will be provided after booking. All cooking tools and ingredients are included; just bring curiosity and an appetite.
