Description

Under expert guidance, you will design, trace, cut, grind, glue, shape, sand, oil, and sharpen your own knife handle. The workshop begins with an introduction to knife design fundamentals, including material selection, technologies, and blade geometries.

You will prepare the wooden stock and materials such as spacers, bolsters, and pins for gluing. Using belt grinders, you will shape the handle, then finish it by hand with sandpaper and files. The handle will be polished and coated with oil before you sharpen your blade using diamond-coated bench stones and proven free-hand techniques.

The workshop takes place in a fully equipped professional knife-making shop. You will leave the course with a functional knife featuring an approximately 12 cm blade, suitable for kitchen or outdoor use.
