Description
In 1940, the Nazis established the Warsaw Ghetto, confining over 400,000 Jews in an area of 4 square kilometers. Around 100,000 died from exhaustion, hunger, and disease, while more than 300,000 were killed in the Treblinka extermination camp.
The 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was a nearly one-month struggle between the Jewish rebels and German troops. In retaliation, the Nazis destroyed the ghetto, with only a few survivors, including Władysław Szpilman, the subject of the film 'The Pianist.'
Before World War II, Warsaw had the second largest Jewish community, making up 30 percent of the city’s population. Within three years, this community ceased to exist in Warsaw.
During this tour, you will visit authentic locations, including fragments of the ghetto walls, the last street of the ghetto, neighborhoods within the ghetto, and the only synagogue in Warsaw that survived World War II and remains active.
