Description
See where Hitler lived between June 1940 and November 1944 on this full-day excursion from Warsaw. The Wolf’s Lair is a huge complex of barracks, shelters and bunkers equipped with its own power and water supplies.
The guide will tell you about everyday life at the headquarters, and about many crucial decisions that were made there – including the creation of concentration camps. Retreating German troops blew up the complex, but some of the bunkers inhabited by German dignitaries are in good condition today.
You’ll also visit the Nazi shelters located in Mamerki, which are among the best preserved in Poland. Many important decisions for the Wehrmacht army were made at Mamerki, including the order to stifle the Warsaw Uprising.
In all there are 250 buildings, including 30 shelters that were built for 40 of Hitler’s highest-ranking generals and field marshals, 1500 officers and Wehrmacht soldiers.
