Besuto Sushi Bar

Attractively located on Warsaw's most fashionable street - Nowy Swiat - Besuto is one of the most popular sushi bars in town. The chic interior and beautifully presented food combine with reasonable prices to provide diners with an authentic Japanese culinary experience.

Having recently moved to larger premises that now include a pavement terrace, it's now possible to enjoy your meal while watching the fashionably-dressed toting their designer shopping bags. But don't let this distract you from the food, as the menu here artfully combines classical sushi and sashimi with other Japanese dishes. Another alternative is to sit at the large circular bar that dominates the interior, where you can watch your food being prepared in the large central area.

Aside from the standard 'sets' that are typical of sushi bars (and yes, there's a keenly-priced lunch menu), one can also choose from a number of beautifully presented salads, tempura/teriyaki dishes - indeed, one can eschew the traditional Japanese format and opt for a full dinner featuring starters mains and desserts. Not only that - the menu offers a number of hot and grilled dishes presented in a way that conforms to the overall Japanese aesthetic. The wine list is notable for the whites that best complement sushi, and of course sake along with traditional plum and lychee wine.

Sushi has become something of a hit in Poland in recent years, and Warsaw has a fair few to choose from with varying degrees of success. Besuto scores points for both location and style, but at the end of the day its popularity endures due to the quality, freshness and imagination shown in its menu.
