The cemetery at Okopowa Street has been a main Jewish necropolis in Warsaw for around 200 years. It is also one of the biggest Jewish cemeteries in the whole of Poland. Famous rabbis, actors, writers, painters, and ghetto fighters are buried here, and the symbols sculptured on the gravestones are particularly interesting to those that visit this site. Whilst there you will be able to learn local anecdotes, and can also search for unique gravestones sculptured by Abraham Ostrzega. You will learn the reason why Abraham Ostrzega was admired by other artists, but condemned by the local rabbis.
