Hungarian food is not particularly well known throughout the world but the owners of Borpince have established a restaurant in Warsaw which thrives on showing that Hungarian food is about more than goulash. The owner of the restaurant, Zolton Tron, has organised the restaurant in such as way as to create a genuine Hungarian experience. Hungary is famous for wine and there is also a shop where you can choose from top wines from this country.
Borpince and La bor restaurants are both located in the centre of Warsaw in a charming cellar with redbrick walls and vaulted ceilings. Listen to Hungarian music while choosing from the menu of Hungarian dishes. For starters there is pasta with sheep cheese and sweet pepper or pancake with pork stew in a spicy pepper sauce.
Tarragon soup with beef or fish soup with catfish are other hot starter options. Spicy goulash with noodles and cottage cheese or marinated steak with garlic, stewed vegetable and roasted potatoes are main dishes. There is also beef tenderloin with stewed vegetables and chicken liver or stewed goose thigh with caramelized cabbage and noodles. There is a range of salads to accompany your meal with cabbage and beetroot just two of the options.
Deserts include ice cream with pumpkin seed oil, roasted seeds and sugar pumpkin seeds and chestnut puree with rum and whipped cream. The wine menu is impressive with over one hundred types of wine. Freshly squeezed juice, homemade lemonade, tea, coffee and soft drinks are some of the other drinks on the menu.
